Below is a summary of Lucky Leash Rescue's Adoption Process. Since we are a volunteer and foster based organization and cannot always meet with you immediately. All emails will be answered within 24 hours and an average completed adoption takes about a week from the time of the application submission. We strive to make sure that every adoption is a successful adoption, which is why our process takes a bit longer than others. We thank you for your patience and hope you will be happy with the results!
The First Step: Please choose an animal from our program! You can view our Adoptable Animals here. If we do not have what you are looking for, we are happy to help you find an animal or recommend another rescue group.
The Second Step: Please fill out and submit our application located here! Please download the application, fill out the first three pages as completely as possible, save the application with a different file name, and email the completed form to luckyleashrescue@gmail.com. Please read the final three pages of the application, but do not fill those out because those are done when an adoption is finalized. If you have any specific questions regarding an animal on our website, please email us and we will respond within 24 hours.
The Third Step: We will review your application. Please allow a minimum of 24 hours for us to review and contact you back. Your application will be shared with the foster parents, but will NOT be shared with anyone outside of Lucky Leash Rescue. If you do not adopt from us, we will NOT keep your application on file. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DECLINE ANY APPLICATION FOR ANY REASON.
The Fourth Step: We will contact you to arrange an appointment for you to meet the animal! We typically do the first meeting at a local park and ask that all members of the family come and meet the animal. Our favorite meeting park is Tanglewood Park located on the corner of Bering Dr. and Woodway Dr. (77057) because of its small size and fully-fenced dog park! The animal will not go home with you at this time as we want you to think about this big decision.
The Fifth and Final Step: The Home Visit! We will bring the animal to your house. We will go over the animal's care, make sure any animals involved get along, and make sure there are no questions unanswered. If the home visit goes well, we will finalize the paperwork and the one week trial begins! We will collect the non-refundable adoption fee at this time. After the one week trial and you telling us that you love your new pet, the adoption is completely finalized and the micro-chip will be updated accordingly.
